Proposed itinerary

This itinerary might change depending on the interests of the group and the weather conditions.
Sunday
Arrive. Introductions followed by dinner and orientation.
Monday
After breakfast, we'll explore the area, riding to places where you might want to cycle on your own later in the week. We'll return for lunch. The afternoon is free. You might go to Kehena Beach, a nearby black sand beach where you might have the opportunity to swim with dolphins. Prior to dinner, we'll gather for yoga to stretch our muscles and rest our minds. (37 miles of riding)
Tuesday
This morning, we'll do more loops on local roads, riding into Pahoa, the largest nearby town complete with its own health food store. We'll return for a yoga class followed by lunch. The afternoon is free. You might ride to Pohoiki and watch surfers practice or take a dip in the natural hot pool. (30 miles of riding)
Wednesday
This morning, we'll get a packed lunch and head into the "big city" of Hilo for its renowned farmer's market. You can browse and purchase goods from local artists. We'll return for a yoga class before dinner. (65 miles of riding)
Thursday
This morning, we'll repeat favorite loops on local roads, followed by a yoga class. After lunch, we'll gather some sandwiches and head up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We'll watch the orientation movie and learn about this living and evolving park. After exploring Thurston Lava Tube, we'll hike to the site of the current eruption, conditions permitting. After the sun sets, we can witness the red lava flowing against the pitch blackness of night.
Friday
This morning, we'll get a packed lunch and ride past Pahoa to Paradise Park, and walk to a rocky shoreline where you might want to take a dip in the ocean or simply relax and eat lunch. We'll return for a yoga class followed by some free time before dinner. (48 miles of riding)
Saturday
Today's ride will depend on the interest of the group. Possibilities include more riding on local roads, riding past Hilo to the Botanical Gardens, or even riding up to the Volcano. Of course, you might choose to take the day off from cycling and schedule a massage instead. (30 to 90 miles of riding)
Sunday
After breakfast, we'll have a restorative yoga class, a class that focuses on breathing and visualization techniques you can use everyday to facilitate relaxation and restoration. After lunch, you may depart at your leisure.
